(As stated on our About Us page), The American
Society of Portrait Artists (ASOPA), is dedicated to promoting classical
portraiture and educating artists by providing portrait seminars and
workshops around the country in association with fine art schools and
institutions. ASOPA awards scholarships and conducts international
portrait competitions, and holds competitions for scholarships at fine
art schools to students to reward the world's top portraitists. Many fine
art schools today have an avant-garde approach to portraiture and
neglect the technical skills of the Old Masters in the classical style
such as Velazquez, Sargent, Cassatt and Beaux among others. Our Advisory
Board is committed to ensuring that the classical tradition of
portraiture continues to be taught at fine art schools and institutions
across the country. Adherence to ASOPA's
Mission and Value Statements will promote
interest in portraiture among all artists and encourage them to pursue
this fine art tradition.
ASOPA encourages you to make a tax-deductible contribution to this worthy cause to educate artists and help keep the classical tradition of portraiture alive. The expenses are considerable in this nationwide effort. Thank you for completing the donation form and mailing your check today. There are various levels of Sponsorship, which are described on the attached form. Please call us at 1-800-622-7672 if you have any questions regarding the American Society of Portrait Artists.
